A new puzzle is published every day at 00:00 UTC and stays available for 24 hours. The puzzle is the same for every player worldwide on a given date, so you can compare your time with friends. After midnight UTC, today's puzzle becomes part of the historical archive — you can still play it, but the streak counter only counts puzzles solved on the day they were released.

Solve the daily puzzle on the day it is released to extend your streak by one. Miss a day and the streak resets to zero. Streaks are visible on your profile and on the leaderboard. The cutoff is based on UTC, so you have a full 24-hour window from any timezone.

Yes — the calendar date picker lets you replay any past daily puzzle going back to the launch of the daily series. Replays don't count toward your active streak, but they do appear in your puzzle history if you have an account. This is great for catching up if you missed a day, or for warming up before tackling today's challenge.

No — anyone can play the daily puzzle without signing up. Creating a free account adds streaks, badges, leaderboard ranking, and the ability to replay historical puzzles synced across devices. It also unlocks the personal-best timer that records your fastest solve for each daily.

Midnight UTC. Depending on your timezone that's: 8 PM Eastern (previous day), 5 PM Pacific (previous day), 1 AM London (winter) / 2 AM (summer), 9 AM Tokyo, or 11 AM Sydney. The countdown timer in the panel always shows your local time until reset.

Most players finish in 5-10 minutes. The puzzle is calibrated to be brisk — typically 12-15 words on a 12x12 grid — to fit into a coffee break or commute. If you want a longer session, switch to one of our themed puzzles or use the generator to create a larger custom puzzle.
